Minutes from Monday, May 02, 2022 GIFG Meeting
Prior to the meeting being called to order, a representative of the “Golden Isles Liberty Belles” made a presentation about the work the group does in making and presenting quilts to area military veterans.
General Meeting of The Golden Isles Fiberarts Guild was convened at 3:00 pm on May 2, 2022 at the Holy Nativity Church.
The minutes of the April meeting as they appeared in the newsletter were approved.
Visitors were welcomed: Gabby Fox, Lucia Smeal and Jackie O’Neal.
Joyce Poole, Treasurer, reported a balance of $1,545.38.
Lainie Addessi gave a report to the membership on negotiations with the Jekyll Island Art Association’s request that GIFA Guild participate in a show in either 2024 or 2025. She outlined the requirements set down by the JIAA as follows:
1. Participants would be required to join JIAA for accounting purposes
2. All art submitted would be for sale
3, Inventory would be submitted 15 days before the show
4. A commission of 25% would be assessed
She further stated that all publicity and attending expenses would be incurred by the JIAA.
A motion was made seconded and passed allowing Lainie to proceed with negations with JIAA.
Nancy Harper and Wanda Ruger reported on meeting with Ada Owens about addressing problems with the website domain. A motion was made, seconded and approved allowing Nancy and Wanda to consult about the website.
Audrey Stewart reported on the work done by the task force to resolve the problem of what to do with the many years of scrap books. It was decided to dismantle the books and send the contents to the various creative groups and officers for final determination. The photos, however, would be retained for possible digitization and stored on the website.

Betty Hanneman: quilt for kids’ charity (Hope Collective)
Joyce Poole: felted slippers
Janie Pritchard: placemat and napkins; crumb quilting mat
Marion Kennedy: knitted top; felted bag
The program was a PowerPoint presentation by Marion Kennedy of her 12-day trip to Hungary where she
participated in numerous felting workshops.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 pm.
